Virginia Beach Schools of the Future

Google maps overview of proposed Bayside High School Location
Bayside High School

A new Bayside High School, designed for 1,900 students, will be built on the existing 32-acre high school site at the intersection of Haygood Road and Wesleyan Drive.  The new school will continue to be home to VBCPS’ Health Sciences Academy.  As currently planned, Bayside High School students and staff will temporarily relocate to a renovated Holland Road Annex (also known as the old Kellam High School) during construction.  When construction is complete, students and staff would move back to the Bayside High School site into the new school.  The new Bayside High School will be designed as a prototype for future VBCPS high schools.  The new high school’s prototypical design will anticipate site design adaptation and programmatic changes that may be needed for each succeeding replacement high school. Future locations may include Kempsville HS, First Colonial HS, and possibly Green Run HS.
